Denise seeks to get closer, almost to the point of abstraction, where realism gives way to fantasy. When she looks within a flower, she gets lost in the complicated precision of nature. As a resident of the island of Kauai, Hawaiian flowers and landscape are the greatest inspiration for her work. Denise likes to put the viewer in the perspective of a bug or a bird, for which the flower exists in symbiosis.
