Janet Manousos
Janet Manousos uses a strong interest in her family's gold-mining past as inspiration for her mixed-media collages and black-and-white photography.
Found objects from the Virginia City, Nevada, dumps often appear in Janet's work, as do photos of her ancestors, book pages, recipes and letters from the past.
Many of her photos document the living quarters of Virginia City gold miners and their families. The dwellings, now in extreme decay, are protected by the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office.
