Joné Dupré
A San Diego native, born of military parents, Joné Dupré, graduate of Coronado High School, CA, attended Los Angeles Art Center (now in Pasadena) and San Diego City College to further her interest in commercial art and design.
A two-year stint with Convair/General Dynamics-San Diego in poster and manual production led to San Francisco-based Imagination Incorporated, working on animated commercials for national companies. Completely stoked on cartoons, Joné moved to Chicago with her two daughters and worked producing internal slide presentations.
Returning to San Diego, she pursued editorial cartooning for magazines and newspapers, and started teaching cartooning and marketing for adult education. Finally, developing an interest in fine arts, Joné bought some acrylics and started painting and exhibiting her work.
Joné has exhibited in art shows and galleries in the western states for 20 years, arriving in Palm Springs in 2004 for the "season's" art shows, planning to return to the San Francisco Bay Area. But instead she is teaching portraiture, cartooning and painting.
